We would like to invite you to attend the first annual conference of the Children’s Rights in Early Years (CREY) network. This HYBRID conference at Swansea University Singleton Campus, and online, will focus on sharing best practice and current work around listening to the voices of young children.
Speakers will include:
· Dr Lorna Arnott (Strathclyde University) The culture of voice in early childhood: attunement, participation and power
· Rhona Matheson and Anne McFadyen (Members of the Infant Mental Health Implementation and Advisory Group – Scottish Government) Listening to the Voices of Infants in Scotland, The Scottish Government’s Best Practice Guidance and Infant Pledge; and research from Starcatchers about using the arts to elicit the voice of babies
· Natalie Canning (Open University) Children’s Empowerment in Play (CEiP) Empowerment Framework
· Dr Jane Waters-Davies (University of Wales Trinity Saint David) The capable child as a threshold concept for inclusive early childhood education and care
· Dawn Jones (Wolverhampton University) What I really think about sitting straight, golden time and reward charts: Gathering 4-year-olds views on behaviourist pedagogy in reception
