Safeguarding Children & Young People with BSL Interpreters

A One-day course
This one-day course is fully interactive, delivered by one of Children in Wales’ expert trainers and is fully funded by the Welsh Government to allow for deaf and hearing impaired learners attend a course vital to their roles. The training day will be supported by BSL interpreters.

This course is aimed at anyone working directly or indirectly with children and young people in a wide range of workplace and community settings. The purpose of the training is to give participants confidence and essential knowledge on how to safeguard the children and young people in their environment.

As a result, of the training participants will:

• Learn about the key legislation, guidance, policies and procedures for safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, including E-safety
• Understand the roles of different agencies involved in safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
• Understand safe working practices essential to keeping children, young people and practitioners safe in a work setting
• Consider the potential indicators of different types of child abuse and how to identify these in practice
• Know how to respond effectively to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused, or neglected
• Be able to describe the principles and boundaries of confidentiality and when to share information

A reserve list will be set up, as places are limited. If you do gain a place, but are no longer able to attend, we require you to give at least 48 hours’ notice so we can reallocate the place to someone on the reserve list.

The training will take place at the Children in Wales' Office.

Mae’r cwrs undydd hwn yn gwbl ryngweithiol, wedi’i gyflwyno gan un o hyfforddwyr arbenigol Plant yng Nghymru ac wedi’i ariannu’n llawn gan Lywodraeth Cymru i ganiatáu i ddysgwyr byddar a nam ar eu clyw fynychu cwrs sy’n hanfodol i’w rolau. Cefnogir y diwrnod hyfforddi gan ddehonglwyr BSL.

Mae'r cwrs hwn wedi'i anelu at unrhyw un sy'n gweithio'n uniongyrchol neu'n anuniongyrchol gyda phlant a phobl ifanc mewn ystod eang o leoliadau gweithle a chymunedol. Pwrpas yr hyfforddiant yw rhoi hyder a gwybodaeth hanfodol i gyfranogwyr ar sut i ddiogelu plant a phobl ifanc yn eu hamgylchedd.

O ganlyniad, bydd cyfranogwyr yr hyfforddiant yn:

• Dysgu am y ddeddfwriaeth, canllawiau, polisïau a gweithdrefnau allweddol ar gyfer diogelu lles plant a phobl ifanc, gan gynnwys e-ddiogelwch
• Deall rolau gwahanol asiantaethau sy'n ymwneud â diogelu lles plant a phobl ifanc
  Deall arferion gweithio diogel sy'n hanfodol i gadw plant, pobl ifanc ac ymarferwyr yn ddiogel mewn lleoliad gwaith
• Ystyried dangosyddion posibl gwahanol fathau o gam-drin plant a sut i nodi’r rhain yn ymarferol
• Gwybod sut i ymateb yn effeithiol i dystiolaeth neu bryderon bod plentyn neu berson ifanc wedi cael ei gam-drin, neu ei esgeuluso
• Gallu disgrifio egwyddorion a ffiniau cyfrinachedd a phryd i rannu gwybodaeth
